Three/Four Year Olds
We all know that "why" is a word three and four year-olds
love! This age group is among the most inquisitive,
questioning everything in their world. From questions and
answers they begin to build theories and ideas about their
surroundings, forming likes, dislikes personality and
individuality. Three and four year-olds are becoming complex
thinkers, predicting cause and effect through experimentation,
observation and trial and error. Communicating through spoken
and written language is expanding their vocabularies, refining
understanding of the words they already know and building a strong
foundation for literacy. The curriculum for our three and
four year-old classes follows the literacy and theme-based Chappell
Curriculum which has evolved since its 1958 inception. The
Chappell Curriculum is supplemented by the Florida Institute of
Education's Early Learning and Literacy Model (ELLM.) These
research-based, literacy-focused curricula build
cognitive development while expanding early reading development
encouraging creativity and curiosity through the use of multiple
developmental learning centers.
Our curriculum components include:
Emergent Literacy
